Problem:

Why does my web page reload when I view it online.

Explanation:

There are two elements to a buy button:

  • the data you provide eButtonz to create a unique product and:
  • the code you add to your web page that links to that unique product.

The data you provide in item 1 is stored on the eButtonz web server as part of your online catalogue.

The code in item 2 links products in your web pages to the online catalogue. The linking code is automatically generated for you by eButtonz and is referred to as the buy buttons.

In addition to this some special code must be added to the head code of all of your web pages which feature eButtonz.

The eButtonz head code instructs your web page to connect to your eButtonz catalogue and replace the buy button links in your web page with live buy buttons. In addition, eButtonz automatically creates the basket frame which shows the summary of any items added to the shopping cart plus a link to the checkout (Click here to find out how to remove the banner ads and customize the basket and checkout).

If no eButtonz head code exists in your web page it will not connect to your eButtonz catalogue and the buy buttons will not be displayed. For Dreamweaver users the head code is automatically added when you insert buy buttons to a web page. HTML coders click here to find out how to add the eButtonz head code.

This process causes your web page to be re-served by eButtonz. (Click here to find out how to remove the eButtonz URL from the browser address bar)

In summary:

1. The buy button links (represented by 3 flags in the image above) and head code are added to your web page as per window 1 above. The web page is uploaded to your web site. You open the web page and it automatically connects to eButtonz:

2. Your web page connects with your eButtonz catalogue which scans and replaces the buy button links in your web page with live buttons as shown in window 3.

3. Window 3 shows that the buy button links have been replaced with live buy buttons (magnified) and the basket frame has automatically been launched as represented by the red highlight ring.
